Bush Says Jobs Are Up.
Kerry has been quoted as saying:
- “President Bush is now certain to be the first president since the Great Depression to face re-election without creating a single job,”
But… according to these numbers, 1.7 million jobs have been created in the last year. And 913,000 have been lost over the course of his presidency. Look at that for a moment, do some math and you come up with 787,000 jobs that he has created in the last year, that are in abundance of the jobs lost. That doesn’t include any numbers for jobs created in previous years, just in the last year alone.
In other words… Kerry’s statement about Bush not having created a single job.. is a lie.

Actually, Kerry is correct here.
1.7 million jobs have been created in the last year.
Over the course of the entire Bush Presidency, 913,000 jobs have been lost. Basically the economy shed about 3 million jobs (net job loss) in the first two years of Bush’s presidency but has managed to gain back a little over half of that in the last year.
Now of course even during the worst years, new jobs are created, just more jobs are lost. But when people speak of job creation they mean an increase in the net number of jobs.
