I do empathize with Terri's parents and understand how they feel, but the fact is, right now the law simply doesn't work that way. I agree with what we discussed yesterday, that they should have been fighting to change the law years ago so that they could have some control over their daughter's fate. It is an example of the worst type of legislation imaginable. It is legislation that was written to provoke a specific outcome in a specific case without regard to future consequences. Terri Schiavo has been on life support since 1990. Her case has been wending it's way through the court systems since 1998. If Governor Bush and the people of Florida wanted to create a good law to cover this type of occurrence, they had ample time to do so. They did not need to wait until the last gasp.
