It seems that the case against them was very solid, and they felt that 10 mil was the cheapest way out of it.

I certainly don’t see that this ‘clearly wasn;t Sony corp’s policy,’ the evidence is the the reverse of that.

I expect that other media groups will respond in the manner that they think is best for their business, as I expect Sony did. Depending on the case against them and how they feel the publicity will affect them they will make a choice on how to proceed.

I don’t see anything about this that is some sort of high moral ground on Sony’s part.

Well.. the thing is, it clearly wasn’t Sony corp’s policy and Sony fessed up rather than drag things out.

Watch as some of the other media corps get sued for “payola”. None of the others will simply say “Yup! We did it, we screwed up! We’re sorry.” and shell out 10 mil.

I agree – they broke the law, got caught and now are saying they are sorry.

I think that following the law to begin with might have been a more upstanding way to deal with this ‘problem’
