News From the Random

Okay.. so some personal tidbits and some newsworthy tidbits, and the usual randomness that is me.

Hubby’s boss is a wonderful woman. She was cleaning out her desk and found some empty round altoids tins. For you PSP owners out there, these things are the perfect carrying case for UMDs. She donated them to my cause. Thank you Ginger!

My son has had a heck of a school year. First, he gets in trouble for peeing on a tree, then he managed to somehow rip his underwear without ripping his pants the other day. I had to transport fresh skivvies to him before the day was through and now, I get to have a meeting with several people at school about my son writing the “F” word on the back of a piece of his homework. It’s just not his year IMO. I swear the kid is going to have a complex about cursing and other things that involve his private bits for the rest of his life. Poor kid.

I posted about the shoot-out by my friends’ place of employment. That was pretty entertaining for all.

I did okay on my astronomy test and my math test. Maybe things won’t be as bad as I thought they were going to be this quarter.

And now for the news-news.

This interesting article was on Instapundit today. I’m very much a video game fan, but not so much as the rest of my family. However, I have to agree with the commentary about Jade Empire. Having played it after my husband rented it, it has become the one Xbox game that I might actually sit down to play through! I’m foaming at the mouth for more of it, but it will have to wait until I am finished playing Xenosaga 2 at least.

Congrats to the Firefox community! This week, downloads of Mozilla Firefox reached 50 million! Spread the word people! Spread the word!

The mars rover, Opportunity, has gotten stuck in the sand. However, scientists are hopeful that they will be able to dig it back out in time. News article here. Via /.

And to finish off the geek news of the week, The Netherlands has passed an ipod tax. Heck of a thing, check it out.

Politics.. other stuff.. blah. I’m way too into exploring my inner geek today.
