Simon Wiesenthal Dies

The Times has a wonderful article on his passing and his life for those who are unfamiliar with him.

It’s a crime in many ways, that Wiesenthal has left us. He is responsible for bringing many Nazi war criminals to justice and for reminding many generations after the Holocaust that it happened, and that we, as a society, have a responsibility to remember it.

You may not agree with everything that Wiesenthal did in his life, but it’s hard not to stand up and remember him for all the good he did. … [Read More]

School Daze

No, that’s not a typo and no, it’s not an intentional misspelling to be cute. What it is, is a play on words.

Today was my first day back at class and I think I am going to drop dead. 75 problems assigned in math, on top of a four page worksheet, and the reading of two sections. 2 chapters assigned reading in Speech. By the time I got home, I was so stressed out that Algebra was a relaxing past time. An Interview with Miyazaki-san

The Guardian managed to snag an interesting and extremely rare interview with Miyazaki Hayao. Miyazaki-san has not agreed to be interviewed by the press for ten years, so this is a truly rare treat. Check it out.

There’s no denying who has creative control over Miyazaki-san’s work.

After reading the interview, I wanted to shake the man’s hand. It made me proud to be a fan of his work. … [Read More]

Sony’s iPod Killer

And man is it pretty.

I have been considering a digital music player for myself lately. Mostly because the psp, while cool, is too bulky and gets used more frequently by my husband and son than it does by me. I’ve been feeling a tad daunted by the iPod however, because I don’t want to install yet another media player on my machine. Before my computer went into the shop, I had SonicStage, RealPlayer, WMP, Nero Showtime and VLC media player installed on my machine. I didn’t even bother installing winamp on it because of all the excessive media players.

I want drag and drop file transfer, or transfer with software I already have. I want about 2-4 gig of space, and I want the player to be big enough that I will notice that it’s in the pocket of my jeans when I go to do laundry. The iPod nano simply doesn’t fit the bill, and many stores have either taken the iPod minis off the shelves, or not bothered to drop their prices on them, even though Apple is discontinuing the product.… [Read More]
