This excellent article just had to be passed on.
Over the past several years, I have noticed that men, in terms of reproductive matters, have no rights as it pertains to their offspring and control over their own ability to reproduce. That power has been handed over to women who make decisions with or without the consent of their child’s father. It’s very upsetting.
Who decides that women make better parents than men?
Right now, this is, by and large, the decision of our court systems and for the majority of custody cases, the courts choose women to be primary caregivers. This labels women with an omnipresent gold star that screams out in neon lights, “Better parent!”
This is not always the case. I have known and known of many men who were better choices for full time care of a child than the child’s mother was. I wish the courts would really consider what is in the best interests of the child, but they skip through these cases falling back on the assumption that “Mother knows best.”
As a society, we need to learn to do what is best for our children, and not what is best for ourselves or what’s easy and convenient.
Bravo to Mr. Johnston for standing up for his right to choose.
