Thanksgiving Thanks

I like to write a post about what I am thankful for every Thanksgiving. This year, the list is a little weird… but here we go:

I’m thankful for my family because without their support, I don’t think I would be able to go as far as I am capable. Yes, even my kids fit in with this one. I’m glad I’m a parent, and I’m glad that I have the life that I have here with my husband and kids. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

I am thankful for my dog. Reilly is so tolerant of everything and this year, it finally occurred to me that he is getting old because the vet diagnosed him with arthritis. I wanted to cry when I heard the news. He has been there for me through some of the worst times of my life. Some of them, I wouldn’t have made it through in one piece without him quietly sitting at my side. He’s been there for some great times too, and right now, we’re in one of those great times. I’m glad that I have the opportunity to enjoy his company for a little while longer, and I hope that I will have that opportunity for several more years. Man’s best friend my foot… he’s MY best friend. No offense to my friends, I love you all very much, but there are some things that only a dog can do.

I am grateful for the opportunities that life has given me. I would never trade going to college, or the jobs I have had or the times I have spent with others for someone else’s opportunities. My life is mine and I love living it, even if things get really bad sometimes.

And… I know I have more, but that’s about all I can think of right now. I probably should have chosen better timing to write this, like a time when I am not doing obedience training with the puppy….

Happy thanksgiving everyone!
