Intel pays 40$ a chip to manufacture CPUs. And the price has stayed that way for Intel since 2003.
Are you angry yet?
I suppose that’s not so if you are a Mac owner, but anyone else who has had to purchase or replace a CPU since 2003 should be. I can appreciate a certain amount of cost overhead, but when the average price for a CPU is over 600$, and Intel only pays 40$? I’m not sure that any amount of cost overhead can justify that ridiculous number for a CPU.
Maybe Intel needs it to produce soylent green for an alien corporation to keep them from taking over the Earth, but somehow, I doubt that Intel’s intentions are that virtuous.
